I am Zadie Smith

Updated: Apr 4, 2022

A quiz taken spontaneously determined what type of author I am. I don't do these very often, but I didn't have much to do at the moment so, why not? Apparently I am Zadie Smith. She's a well established novelist who wrote a best seller in her early 20s, and has written many more since then. (I didn't know her either, but I looked her up and she's got an impressive resume.)

I felt a bit puffed up after reading the brief result. It was well written, and it made me want to purchase all of the services they offered along with the quiz. I'm sure that was the intent. Fortunately for my pocketbook, they do provide a lot of free stuff as well.

I digressed. Apparently, this is me...and Zadie.

You’re a literary chameleon. Some writers have one style, but you’ve got several in your wheelhouse — you can go from tender to acid-tongued at the turning of a comma, all without giving your readers whiplash. Your versatility is a particular gift when it comes to characterization: both your heroes and your bit players move and speak with a distinctive energy all their own.

I love everything about this. The clever phrases and identification of my style, er, styles. The reference to my heroes and bit players. And the energy. I like knowing I have a "particular gift."

I don't know how they got all of that from a few questions, but I agree. This is me. You will see a variety of book styles on this website. I am not trying to be all things to all people, but perhaps you will find something that relates to you, or a friend, or a child in your life.

Leave a comment and let me know which of my books speaks to you!
